Babis Pavlopoulos

My name is Babis Pavlopoulos and I was born in Athens, Greece. I studied Buisiness Administration at the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus. I am a photographer, tour operator, tour guide and author. I have been dealing with natural environment and wildlife as well as with defensive, and traditional architecture for over 25 years.

I began as a fashion photographer while I was studying. In a short time I turned to architectural photography, depicting the old building as I was trying to detect the way that were built and at the same time why they had had these specific individual elements. Early on, travelling in different places, I realized the importance of natural environment’s good condition, and how hard the human impact on the environment is. This realization was the stimulus to deal with wildlife and wildlife photography.

I run and organize cultural and photo tours in mainland Greece, wildlife photo tours in Lake Kerkini, Northern Greece, in Spain for the Iberian Lynx, and in Slovenia for the Brown Bear (coming soon).

I have published four books:

"Towers and Fortified Residences in the Peloponnese, 15th - 19th century" (study - photo alboum), "Lake Kerkini" (natural environment & lakeside architecture), "Monasteries in Greece, 15 centuries of history and architecture" (short presentation of the historical and architectural theme - guide), and “Settlements, built in fortified arrangement in Greece, from the medieval Aegean Sea to Mani region” (study - photo album).

Also the calendars - photo alboums: "Greek Wetlands" for 2009, "Greek Traditional Settlements" for 2010, "Tour on Greek Mountains" for 2011, as well as the wall - calendars: "Monasteries of the Peloponnese" for 2008, "Stone Bridges" for 2009, "European Medieval Castles" for 2012, "Wildflowers" for 2013, "Birds" for 2015 and "Moments of Greece" 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.

I am a member of Arcturos, a foundation for the conservation of the Brown bears in Greece.
